15I gotta chime in with Zappa as well: I d say pretty much every song on the Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe albums are among the most overrated ever. I will never for the life of me understand how those two albums are among his most popular and recommended. Those are the albums that I was introduced to Zappa on and to my ears then and now they completely suck. Meanwhile you have stuff like Absolutely Free, We re Only in it for the Money, and Uncle Meat in his catalogue which are among the best albums ever made by anyone, mostly due to their arrangements (which I would argue if Zappa was a genius at anything, it was that) and they get buried under shit that gets paraded around because œwoah you gotta listen to his lyrics, he was SO smart and his songs are SO hilarious! or œyou gotta listen close to the guitar on these albums, he was SUCH a great guitarist! when the music blows soooo much.

16I think a band's "hits" being some of their least interesting songs is fairly common with bands that have had mainstream success, but I think this is especially true with Nirvana. Low hanging fruit answer, I know.

18Puss is the Jesus Lizard song that I've never understood the appeal of.Iron Man is an excellent pick, Paranoid too.Frank Zappa has a lot of them. Most of the 'funny' songs are actually more boorish and dumb than funny. Bobby Brown Goes Down, Dinah Moe Hum, Titties and Beer, Honey Don't You Want a Man Like Me, these sorts of things. I say this as someone who really, really loves maybe 25% of his (huge) catalog.
