I've long believed that theft is not a crime in rock and roll, or pop music in general. If pieces of something else makes something new and vital, then so be it. There are so many examples of a lifted riff, groove, vocal melody that it's fun to point them out. The formula being this song ____ is based on ____ that song.

Yeah, the one on Strawberries. It's interesting because the overall mood of the Damned song is closer, but the chorus effect and the actual notes of the KJ song is more like the Nirvana riff. In fact, I think KJ couldn't be accused as borrowing as much from the Damned, as Nirvana did from them.

The whole Elastica 'plagiarizing' Wire thing, though getting sued over "reminds me of.." sets kind of a weird precedent.

"Life Goes On"

This is an odd thing because Chrome's album was recorded before QOTSA, but released ten years after the QOTSA song. Although with such heavy drug use involved by both bands at the time of recording, a wormhole might have been involved.





Also, I think maybe the later Disappears and all of Facs is based on this Chrome song:
