393This was shared on EA's social media account. I can't think of a better tribute to the man than to keep the studio running well into the future.
Hey Everyone,
We (Greg, Jon, Taylor, Mac, and Brian) wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all the support we’ve received since Steve’s untimely death. It’s been wonderful seeing a steady stream of friendly faces and hearing the building shake with music ever since. Naturally, people have been asking about the future of the studio, and what our plans are.
We aren’t going anywhere. Electrical will be around for a while to come. We have many irons in the fire, and a calendar chock-full of great musicians, engineers, and yes, producers. Inevitably, there’ll be some minor changes as we adjust, but we’re going to keep this place running as an affordable, crazy-good option for people making records. Smooth as always.
Don’t hesitate to call or email. Someone’s always here.
Yours in the fight,
EA

394Yeah, I was admittedly a bit worried about what might happen to EA and definitely didn't want to ask. This is a great statement put out by EA staff.penningtron wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 1:20 pm This was shared on EA's social media account. 396That's great news! It's seeming less and less likely, but I still want to record there.
I'd rather be throwing darts.
Re: Requiescat FM Steve
397Great podcast interview with Taylor at EA, taken days after Steve's death which understandably looms large throughout. He's a lot more composed than I would have been that week..

Re: Requiescat FM Steve
398I'm 100% certain that Steve would've wanted EA, the PRF, and things like them to carry on, so good on y'all!

399Jimi Hendrix's studio is still operating. Abbey Road Studios has protected status and CAN'T be demolished...
It's good to hear it confirmed, but I figured it was pretty well inconceivable that fm steve's beloved Electrical Audio would cease to function or would suddenly stop being a world class recording studio in his absence. Its revered status will surely only grow in the decades to come. Asking about the future of Shellac seems equally absurd for the opposite reason. Power to EA staff as they continue their good work. Health and happiness to Bob and Todd in whatever they choose to do.

400My worry had nothing to do with questioning the desire to keep it open, rather if it would remain financially possible to do so.Anthony Flack wrote: Sun Jun 02, 2024 6:36 pm It's good to hear it confirmed, but I figured it was pretty well inconceivable that fm steve's beloved Electrical Audio would cease to function or would suddenly stop being a world class recording studio in his absence. Anyway, I’ll leave it at that.. not appropriate for me to speculate further on FM steve’s memorial thread.
