20 tracks binchesKniferide wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2024 6:55 pm$4000. Ha. Nope. You can track to Reaper or any other DAW without ever looking at the screen if you want to, especially if you have a faderport or like device. Hell, There is a Otari 24track 2" recorder for sale here in Portland for $5500 right now. This device seems to focus on record and playback locked to Timecode, so I'm imagining it is best at grabbing multi track for large stage productions or multi camera shoots. I see no evidence that it can do punch ins or overdubs and I would not be surprised if it cannot. You could get a used Tascam 2424 for $500 and modify it for modern hard drives. FM Numberthirty likes the Alesis version of the same thing and they can also be modified to use modern hard drives.thecr4ne wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 3:52 pm Tascam made a 1U multitrack recorder. Would love one of these for an olde-school workflow. Track and mix to this with an analog console and outboard gear without staring at a screen.
