I finally watched this last night and it was great! I lived in Portland at the time and saw these people around town but was too young to go to the shows. On retrospect, thank god I didn't. I did look up to them from afar, though, and thought they were living the life. Now I watch as a 36 year old and they strike me as kinda charming small town knock offs who constructed their personalities around interviews from music magazines. (Oh, wait, that's also what I do??) I'm excited to see the expanded edition where apparently they all sell real estate in their middle age. What a great idea for a re-release.

Think it's only Zia who's a real estate agent now but I could be wrong.

We just watched the OG again the other night, just as great as it always is, I never tire of this movie.

Just read Joel Gion's book and it's really good, highly recommend. A dude who did that many drugs shouldn't be this good of a writer, but he must've set a few braincells aside back in the day.

Also, not related to the BJM or dandies, but while I'm here, as far as books: Mike Campbell's new book is the best rock memoir I've ever read, and I've read all of them. Go get it.

And as far as rockumentaries, if you haven't seen Goodnight Brooklyn, it's on prime, put that on when you get back from the bookstore. I never tire of that movie either. A heartwarming tale of DIY.
