"Chip Away At The Stone" is a good song.
It's ridiculous how much they suck now, when contrasted with how good they could be inthe 70s.
They need to start doing coke again and quit doing Super Bowl Half-Time Shows.

12this band has written some great music. even in the 80's....it's so ridiculous but "dude looks like a lady" will run though my head at random times of the day and get stuck up there for a long time.
not crap
not crap

14Just listening to the first album all the way through... not crap. 'Rocks' is not crap -- going to give 'Toys in the Attic' a listen soon. Anyway, so far I say not crap. The early stuff cancels out the later crap.

15Pretty crappy.
Some great songs though back in the day. "Major Barbara" is pretty fuckin' sweet.
Here's something that's perplexed me about "Dude Looks Like a Lady", though..........
That little noise(?) that precedes the "dude looks like a lady" chorus....
Is it just a blown note on a saxophone going "FLAH....FLAH.....dude looks like a lady"???
Or is it a weird, sampled, little voice saying, "THAT.....THAT....dude looks like a lady"??
Some girl in middle school always sang it like the latter and I always hear it as "that" now. Is it? Or is it a sax or something?
I swear, it's impossible for me to hear anything else.

What the god damned hell were you smoking.
CRAP, with a waffle factor of 8 for the high points of their 70s output.

17they have officially sucked longer than they were good at this point. actually that point probably came and went 20 years ago.
fuck Aerosmith.
fuck Aerosmith.

19This is a pretty tough call.
Reasons to not like them:
Steven Tyler
Many annoying songs.
Reasons to like them:
Contributing to the production of Liv Tyler
Many good songs
Some great guitar tones
Launching RUN DMC
I will go with NOT CRAP, WF:7

This is madness. Aerosmith, the band, had nothing to do with the production of Liv Tyler, and even if one wanted to argue that they somehow did, I fail to see its relevance to an assessment of their musical efforts. And Run-DMC were already well underway when they got a big crossover boost from that one song.

This is wisdom, though it should be noted that this situation does not in itself mandate a Crap vote. The key is weighing Awesomeness of Early Output against Duration and Intensity of Later Suckage. In Aerosmith's case, the latter predominates, as Marsupialized has correctly concluded.
