Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2863Has anyone combined two Focusrite Scarlett 18i20s using ADAT before? It seems pretty straightforward but curious of any gotchas. I'm trying to record a whole band in my basement and need at least 12 inputs so I'm thinking of just chaining two of these bad boys together, considering I already have a Gen 3 Scarlett 18i20.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2864It should be pretty easy in the Focusrite Control software but if you're on a mac you should also be able to do it creating an aggregate device in Audio MIDI setup and running them both via USB.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2865fwiw in PC land TB audio makes a free software that lets you do the aggregate device thing with asio driven devices on windows. I haven't expanded any focusrite stuff but I've done a bunch of other io devices over adat and it's always easy and flawlessmdc wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 1:49 pm It should be pretty easy in the Focusrite Control software but if you're on a mac you should also be able to do it creating an aggregate device in Audio MIDI setup and running them both via USB.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2866Can you do that across manufacturers? I don't know that I have a use case for it, but you know.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2867Does anyone build a tube/solid state/class D combo amp that is just a power amp and speakers? Seems like it would be an interesting option for all the modelers out there now. FRFRs are awful, and there's combo amps for them.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2868I always thought if you could get a Rhodes Satellite it would be cool for this if weight wasn't a concern. I've seen them go for WAY too much, and sometimes a reasonable price.cakes wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 11:07 am Does anyone build a tube/solid state/class D combo amp that is just a power amp and speakers? Chicago electric piano has made new versions of them.

Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2869Is this something one could pretty easily DIY by just getting a cab and screwing some generic class D power amp inside it?
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
2870This came to mind now that I have the DeVille and using my modeler for OD and modulation. I still use the combo preamp, but the whole reason I got the combo was because I wanted a different 2x12 cabinet than the one I was using.Kniferide wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 11:28 amI always thought if you could get a Rhodes Satellite it would be cool for this if weight wasn't a concern. I was thinking of finding an open back and mounting the class D power amp I have inside it. First, I tried the Tonex Cab, but FRFR--even with the EQ corrections--still kinda sucks compared to a "real cab". I couldn't find an empty cab or a loaded cab that was going to be cheap, so I just opted to get an inexpensive Deville. I didn't even know they had an FX loop in them, but having a tube power amp as a possibility to use with an amp modeler really got me wondering if this has been considered before.twelvepoint wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 11:31 am Is this something one could pretty easily DIY by just getting a cab and screwing some generic class D power amp inside it?
I'll probably continue using the preamp in the DeVille because it sounds good and there's nothing wrong with it. But there does seem to be a market for a combo amp like this, from what I wanted to what I've seen other people talk about on the internet.
