You’re still making false equivocations. If the United States wanted to yoink the leash on Israel it could have happened yesterday. There is no interest in doing so from any recent administration and we have horror after horror to show for it. Every American should be interested in what their government is doing abroad, but there are many cases of people losing their jobs and put on lists for it for even speaking out about it. There is a direct line to American military spending and the lack of money for basic social safety nets and health care.Gramsci wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2026 6:19 amFair. I just get frustrated at the focus on Israeli government behaviour while other conflicts and acts of violence oppression get roundly ignored especially on the left. As someone pointed out playing with body counts is kind of dumb.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2026 6:38 pm
A whole lot of shit going on, all of it bad, but the Palestine correlation is still crazy talk.
I do take umbrage in the idea casualty numbers of Iranian protesters are all “Western propaganda”, but Hamas numbers on Palestinians should be taken as accurate. Either way it’s a lot of dead people that didn’t need to be.
The Iran protests vary on the amount dead from some thousands to the low tens of thousands, and it’s pretty clear that there was paramilitary fighting involved. You can’t try to spin it like a No Kings protest was mowed down in the street because that’s not what happened. Fighting cops (not the Revolutionary Guard or paramilitary units) in Iran has a different legal status than trying to pull shit like that in the United States. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a violent military clamp down, doesn’t mean that legitimate protests don’t flare up at the same time, doesn’t mean that innocent people didn’t die. They still aren’t the same but you have to understand what is actually happening rather than to act like a genocide is happening in Iran at the same time.
Palestine’s death count doesn’t even count the missing buried under the rubble and I’m sure you’ve seen what that place looks like now.
Iran is not the same, and while both are happening because of American and Israeli aggression you are backing yourself into a corner by continuing with the comparison. Again, you don’t even have to juat read up on things happening now - look up Guard, NYT, whatever articles that come out prior to any regime change operation and then what happened to the country afterwards. You can’t read any of this uncritically without being totally misinformed, and yet you double and triple down on doing so.
