Agree. I'm doing this at my home office thru what's my home studio, when I have something playing in the background, but it would be great to patch a comp and EQ in for my regular TV so I can hear the dialogue without turning on captioning

Does anyone have advice for purchasing mechanical licenses? I am about to release 11 songs that are covers. I was originally just going to do soundcloud and fuck it on the licensing, but it turned out to be much better than expected and I'd like to get it up on all the streaming services, which require a mechanical license.

I've come across a ton of different sites, but wondering if anyone's had experience doing this? Just looking for something that is legitimate, it's hard to tell what is and isn't. Do any digital distributors offer this? It also seems to be quite expensive for someone who isn't actually selling anything, when the price is often $12.99/year (per song?). I have come across flat rates for a chunk of downloads, which seems more appropriate for this.

For this I'd use https://soundrop.com/
https://soundrop.com/blog/cover-song-li ... ep-by-step

$0.99 a song no subscription fee. Puts it up on all the streamers.

Soundrop gets a 15% cut of anything sold, but if you aren't worried about that, sure beats the subscription model.

Little quick question. My monitors are in such a way that I cannot reach the power witches and they are big fuckers that the manual says draw 50 watts while idle. They are plugged into one of those Black Lion conditioner power strips. Is it cool to just slam the power switch of the conditioner to turn them off? Seems like it it can't be that different than just hitting the mains switch on the monitor itself being that that is just a switch and fuse, just like the strips switch and fuse. PMC haven't answered me via email and I'd like to now just leave these things on all the time.

What kind of switch is on the monitors? Do you think it moves and physically latches like a light switch or a pickup selector? Or is it a soft-press thing like the power button on a laptop?

This is a great question. I was wondering the same thing about the Midas console and Ferrofish/RME interface plugged in to my Black Lion conditioner in exactly the same manner

Its a standard rocker switchlike you see all the time. only thing that makes me trepidatious is it does have a bunch of fancy shit inside it.
