I guess this: If I wanted to record at home and have a Marshall sound, that amp would get closer than I could get by using pedals on my other amps (princeton and musicman 130). Very nice sound at medium-loud volumes, with the expected limitations of an amp with no master volume. Again, I think this has a gain mod, but it's been a very long time since I opened it up.

Yeah, by reading that I would say that you don't have a B50 at home. This is nothing as it's my experience with a Bassman amp. I had clear and clear sound at 4/10 and a lot of headroom with it. I experienced sound breakup at around 7/10 volume. So, no... I would say that your Bassman is not my Bassman experience.

Where do you order guitar strings and other minor accessories that aren't Amazon, GC, Sweetwater, etc.?

For drum stuff, I and I think FM twelvepoint have recommended Drum Center of Portsmouth before. Seems like a decent non-Trumpian* or anti-union business from what I can tell, and even to the midwest their stuff ships out reasonably fast.

*I would settle for apolitical.

Some string manufacturers allow ordering direct. Labella comes to mind as an example. But I’m guessing a lot more do than ya think. Also I think there’s a company called just strings or something. No idea about their politics or service.

Ah, of course. D'addario definitely does, and my needs are just obscure enough that most small guitar shops won't stock them (acoustic nickel/bronze 13-56)
