I think you already have pre-amps in your mixer. In fact, I have never seen a mixer that didn't have built-in pre-amps. The only reason to get external pre-amps is to get a better quality sound... but at this stage (with you using a tape deck) the bottleneck is not at the pre-amps, it's the tape ...

Actually i love those mics, they totally lack a low end, but for good rehearsal recordings i think they're great. Good price too, especially with the US/UK rates at the moment.
