m-s stereo mic technique

i have a lot of confusion.

how do i split the 2 sides of the figure 8 mic in an m/s? do i just take the mics channel and duplicate it then pan them hard left and hard right? or does each lobe of the fig 8 get its own seperate chanel...if so, how do i split them? a seperate outbox or something ...

hey, does anyone know of any colleges, prefereably bigger colleges in the NY/NJ area that offer audio engineering programs along with buissiness programs and other majors.

Vocal Mic

58s are your standard dynamic vocal mic for live stuff, but it is NOT special. i guess the touring rules out nice condencers, but the 58 wont make your voice sound bad, as far as live vocals go.
