Last day here. With two teenage daughters and a wife that often still acts like a teenager. Am ready for a respite from all of the drama.

The drippy bathroom faucet needed replacement. The parts were so rusted/calcified, the knobs wouldn't fully unscrew. I took the first knob off with a hacksaw. It took 20 minutes cause I didn't want to saw into the wall, so it was an awkward angle. It made me pretty sore cause I'm feeble. I got smart and bought a metal blade for my hand tool and power tooled the rest of proper quick.

I just got home from playing a rock show at Bremen Cafe in Milwaukee. Turnout was modest but better than expected for a Sunday night and it was lively and sweaty. All drum machine bands: Hobbyist from Chicago, Faux Fear from PA and us. I love live music.

Beyoncé and Drake both make terrible music. How embarrassing for black and queer culture that you have these two monumental hacks purportedly bringing house music to the masses. Good lord. That woman has an insane amount of personal wealth, and to think that she couldn't throw some dollars to a writer or an agent to drop a genuine sick house beat goes to show that money can't buy taste. Just awful. I haven't been out much lately, or listen to much radio, but surely this can't be the summer jam - an early 90's preset that immediately brings to mind a better singer and better jam? As much as it pains me to admit this, at least, the very very least, the Drake song has a scintilla of some originality, but that doesn't make it good.

I bring this up because I just read an article about a dumb "dance" band called The Chainsmokers, and a space tourism company, World View, that will be launching them to the edge of space to be the first band to play in the stratosphere. Like, they couldn't think of anyone else? Anyone more relevant or important? All of that money at your disposal and the best you can come up with is The Chainsmokers.

What's even dumber about this (though I guess maybe nothing's dumber than the existence of The Chainsmokers?) is that actual astronauts have been playing music in actual space -- not just the stratosphere--for years:
