The Lenny Kravitz thing - and maybe this is finding blandness even more awful than being out and out terrible - is that I don't know what the fuck he is. Like, who listens to that, when you could listen to <long list of better takes on same thing>? I could understand it if the music were niche enough that there wasn't so much of it out there, but straight-up, radio-friendly guitar rock...how much of it do you need to exhaust before Lenny Kravitz hits? He's the scat incest porn of music.
So you love Lenny is what you are saying?
Sorry for my shitty English

May I submit...Bowling For Soup. Dumb band name, irritating songs.
Ohh!! They are definitely in the running. They did that godawful song "1985" and it's bad in a very unamusing way. Yeeeeech!
I remember them from an AMV (short for Anime Music Video) that me and my friends watched long, long ago.

The song is lame but the video is still fun. If you've watched the show that is.

I don't get it. Is there something Radiohead have said in interviews or the like that makes you draw this conclusion?
It is their entire schtick, along with their fanbase demographic, that makes me draw this conclusion. I really do think that Pantera are a great analogy here. Shameless false consciousness dedicated to milking a market. All of it sounds like it was designed by a steering committee who had done market research.

Hahaha, holy shit, the intro is fantastic. In combination with the voiceover at the beginning, it's like a SNL sketch taking the piss out of Radiohead. I only lasted 40 seconds, but really this is fantastic. Someone should loop the first 45 seconds for a ten hour nyan-cat style meme. The comments would be a good device anthropologically if nothing else. Title it "Radiohead are genius!" and sit back.

I'm interested in this analogy, because it feels slightly off. I don't think either band sound like the product of market research, but they do sound like ersatz takes on things going on at the same time.

Also, am defending The Great Southern Trendkill and, to a lesser extent, A Moon-Shaped Pool. TGST is a wonderfully ugly bit of work.

It's the seriousness of it that tickles me - Johnny Thingy solemnly sitting at his tiny kit, and just adding to what the other drummers are doing, rather than something interesting or different. It's like Mike Patton's music-stand-for-screaming - scream all you want, I like screaming, but the music stand makes it kinda pompous and ridiculous.
