My logic finds there's not much of a leap between "Yü Gung (Fütter Mein Ego)" and "Die Interimsliebenden" or "Schmerzen Hören" and "12305(te) Nacht," but try telling that to a purist. Go on, try it.
Headcleaner is straight-up classic.

I'll go even further, even though the later Neubauten records can be a little hit or miss but I usually like more songs than I don't.
To my ears Tabula Rasa sounds like the inevitable result of a band that has made their own rules, compositions, and instruments over several years, as does subsequent albums. I haven't paid close attention since Perpetuum Mobile but will always have an interest to hear what they are doing.
I listened to some of this album on YouTube last night. It's really good. I remember seeing this one often in used bins back in the day.

I like all of EN's stuff. I'll admit to a partiality for the earlier stuff but this one is no slouch either.

Best albums hated by PRF 1.0:

Pretty Hate Machine and the Downward Spiral. It's like if the Pet Shop Boys decided to make a new, more depraved version of Raw Power

NIN rules. PRF 1.0's NIN thread is a cavalcade of haters and naysayers. No, Trent didn't rock as hard as Big Black, but he wasn't trying to. He had his own creative goals and I think that comes out in the music.

You're probably right.

Time settles a lot of this stuff. Sort of like how critics hated Black Sabbath and the Stooges at the time their best albums were being released. Now opinions have done a 180, many years later.

Steady Diet of Nothing.
Slavestate.
From Here to Infirmary.
Deftones' self-titled, and Saturday Night Wrist.
Sisterworld.
Bitches Brew.
Terror Twilight.
Good list. Steady Diet has the odd distinction of apparently being disliked by its own band members, even though it's a fantastic record. Bitches Brew has the distinction of being disliked by Donald Fagen.

Ahhhh. Makes sense. I forget that some people cared about that shit in the 90's.
Teal Stripe - heavy indie rock
Inverted Candles - antifascist blackmetal
Mirage Music Club - YMO worhip (let us score your indie game)
Service Model - we have Aphex Twin at home

I feel the same way and can kinda-sorta understand the other perspective, but TR is such a strong record that fulfills and builds on what came before that the purist argument falls flat in my opinion. And as a fairly strong fan of the Beatles I appreciate the evisceration taking place in "Headcleaner."

Speaking of purist arguments I heard "Purr" from Dirty the other day and thought: damn, this song is a blast; I bet it's a joy to play.

Mostly traditionalist jazz fans hated on this awesome 70s Miles stuff. Big time. Makes no sense to me, but sometimes it takes a while for ears to acclimate to weird shit. I hated Trout Mask Replica for months before it finally clicked for me.
